# 1: Introduction to my crochet addiction:)
17-2-2018 by Marthe Schut
In this brand new year I would like to start sharing my crochet journey:) It is about three years ago that I saw the project
‘Crocheting little octopuses for premature children’ at www.kleine-inktvisjes.eu (Dutch)
or www.spruttegruppen.dk (English). Learning how to crochet was
already a bullet point on my to-do list but from that moment I knew for sure I wanted to be able to crochet:)
My first attempts made me realize I needed to learn several stitches and spiral-crocheting. I decided to start out with a few simple
spiral crocheted projects (round potholders, a round mirror case etc.)
Simple round potholders (own pattern). Each side is crocheted in a different color.
A small mirror case (almost same design as the potholders). The mirror is from Gaëlle Boisonnard.
At that time I saw a lot of very cute patterns online but...I couldn't read a pattern yet:p
To learn reading a pattern I made a very simple scarf (pattern from the shop ‘Sieraden enZo’ in Holland) with
Ice Yarn Baby Magic.
This was the result:

Then I saw this very cute pattern of a little dog Strengels (bought the pattern at the Dutch shop ‘Boekenvoordeel’ ) and decided to make it. After a day of trial and error, re-doing (and frustration:p) I got quite the hang of it and it resulted in this cutie:

Afterwards I made several scarves, a little cactus from Airali Design (pattern), an agave from Cristina Ugerri (pattern), a little owl from Strengels which I adapted to fit a cork, and (very important) little octopuses:)

I adapted the pattern for a little owl from Strengels to fit a cork.

A tapestry octopus with my own (simple:p) geometrical pattern:)
I started learning to crochet in order to be able to make the little octopuses, but since it is so very addicting I cannot stop crocheting:p In the mean time I have crocheted quite a few projects, and I would like to share them with you^^ My next post will be about some Irish lace, so….to be continued!
